Legionella control and prevention

Tarn-Pure™ - Best way of controlling Legionella

Legionella

Legionella are extremely common pathogens and in nature are found in aquatic and moist soil environments. The bacteria enter buildings through the water supply and spread through the whole of the hot and cold water systems.

Legionella are a common problem and difficult to eradicate. The three common approved methods are:

  • Thermal, which relies on the knowledge that legionella does not survive extended periods of temperatures in excess of 60C, and it is not generally active at less than 20C.
  • Chemicals, such as generated chlorine dioxide and certain chloramines.
  • Copper-silver ionisation.

Of the three disinfection methods, copper-silver ionisation has been proven conclusively through long-term scientific analysis to be the most effective method of control.1 This analysis was conducted on Tarn-Pure™ equipment, establishing Tarn-Pure as the industry standard.
